About A for Arizona
A for Arizona exists to support and expand the number of our best A-quality leaders, educators, and public school models, especially those who serve primarily low-income students. The program is a project of the Arizona Chamber Foundation, in partnership with the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
We believe all students in Arizona deserve to be educated in an A-grade school, and we know that such schools are possible everywhere. It is time to insist.
We meet regularly with the roughly 100 public school principals, network leaders, and superintendents who lead A-grade schools serving over 60% low-income students. They have taught us very important things about their work:
Leaders, teachers, and schools that achieve excellence do so through a high degree of skill and very hard work. A for Arizona will merge our understanding of what these leaders need with our understanding of state policy in order to advocate for laws that support and expand these best-in- class models.
A for Arizona seeks to raise public expectations for high achievement by highlighting our ‘A’ schools and leaders. We will advocate for state policies that promote and reward A-grade education in every community. Our goal is to redefine Arizona as a state where significant and rapid gains in achievement are a hallmark of public education.
